Williamson County will soon have a new K-9 unit.
Sheriff Bennie Vick says the department has received a $76,000 grant from the Howard Buffett Foundation. The grant will provide for a new K-9, training for the dog and its handler, as well as a new fully equipped patrol vehicle.
The new K-9 replaces one that was forced to retire last year for health reasons. Vick says the new K-9 should be in service by May and will bring the Sheriff’s department back up to two certified units funded without the use of taxpayer money.
