A Marion man found out how long he'll be behind bars for robbing the Valero Gas Station.
The U.S. attorney's office says 38-year-old Travis Taylor received a five-year federal prison sentence. He previously pleaded guilty to a one-count indictment.
Evidence at the plea and sentencing hearings established that on April 25, 2018, Taylor entered the Valero Gas Station wearing a mask, told the clerk he had a gun and forcibly ordered the clerk to remove money from the cash registers.
Marion police officers and a Marion K-9 located and arrested Taylor after a vehicle and foot pursuit.
The district judge imposed a sentence above the advisory sentencing guidelines range based on Taylor's criminal history and the fact he had previously violated the terms of his supervised release on a prior federal conviction.
