One lucky brewery will get to make the official craft beer of Illinois' bicentennial celebration.
Eighteen breweries from across Illinois – including 718 Brew Café in Metropolis – are slated to compete for the title during the State Fair's opening weekend.
Heidi Brown-McCreery, from the Illinois Bicentennial Commission,? says it’s a great way to showcase Illinois.
"We think it's a great marriage of what the fair brings...in terms of the entertainments and tourism...but as well of the representation of the number one industry in Illinois, which is agriculture."
Fair-goers can sample each brewery's signature drink and cast their votes.
Sponsors say they hope the competition helps promote the state's growing craft beer industry.?
Governor Bruce Rauner will announce the winning brew the first Sunday afternoon of the fair.
