Authorities believe the rain-saturated ground shifted Thursday morning, causing a train to derail in Sparta.
Sparta Police say a partial derailment of a coal train occurred around 8 a.m. on North Miller Street. Two engines and 14 bulk cargo cars loaded with coal were derailed. No injuries were reported.
