Carbondale's LongbranchCafe and Bakery faces accusations of wage violations and more in a federal lawsuit filed earlier this year.
The complaint, filed by the U.S. Department of Labor in federal court, claims the Dayemi Organization, which operates Longbranch, along with General Manager Elaine Ramseyer Greenberg, violated minimum wage and tip rules as well as overtime guidelines spelled out in federal law.
More than 30 plaintiffs are listed in the complaint, which accuses Dayemi and Greenberg of wrongly distributing pooled tips, and paying employees less than minimum wage. It also says the business and its leadership forced employees to work more than 40 hours per week, without paying them appropriate overtime.
Carbondale Attorney Shari Rhode is representing the defendants, and declined to comment on pending litigation.
