Two Mt. Vernon residents are in custody after Jefferson County deputies arrested them Monday morning.

Authorities say at about 7:30 a.m., deputies attempted to stop a vehicle reported stolen the previous evening in Mt. Vernon. The driver fled and a pursuit eventually reached the village of Bluford.
Officers from the Mt. Vernon and Ina Police Departments joined the Sheriff’s Office to help get the vehicle stopped when the driver lost control at Bluford Road and Illinois Highway 15.

The driver is identified as 32-year-old Ryan Keen of Mt. Vernon and his passenger is 30-year-old Jamie Roberts of Mt. Vernon. They both exited the vehicle and ran on foot, where officers apprehended them.

Keen is charged with Possession of Stolen Vehicle, Aggravated Fleeing and Attempting to Elude the Police, and various other traffic charges. Roberts is wanted on two Jefferson County warrants for Retail Theft and Failure to Appear on a drug-related case.
