Starting Friday, two more Illinois regions will be under stricter COVID-19 mitigations. Governor JB Pritzker says Regions seven and eight, in the northeast, have seen three days in a row of positivity rates greater than eight percent. Governor Pritzker says this is not the time to give in to so-called Covid fatigue.
"If you're getting tired, and you've let your guard down. Now is the time to pick it back up."
While the new measures mean no indoor dining at bars and restaurants, the Governor cautioned against private holiday gatherings.
"Private gatherings are another major spreading opportunity for the virus. Something that we all need to be very very careful about."
Governor Pritzker stressed a region can have stricter measures lifted, if it shows a positivity rate for three straight days of 6.5 percent or less.
