Two Arrested, One Still Wanted in Carbondale Shooting Incident

Three people face charges in connection to a shooting incident in Carbondale Thursday evening.

Police say they were called to the 200 block of East Sycamore just after 7:00 to reports of shots fired. No one was hurt in the incident.

As the officers investigated, witnesses pointed out the suspect's vehicle, and police stopped it.

During the stop, police say the suspect was not found in the car - but they did find two guns and an illegal amount of marijuana. The two people inside were arrested, and further investigation showed one of the guns was stolen.

The two people in the car, 21-year old Courtney Hunter of Danville and 22-year old JaJuan Smith of Carbondale, were arrested on weapons and drug charges. Hunter is being held in the Jackson County Jail, Smith was released with a notice to appear in court.

Police are still looking for the shooting suspect - and consider him to be armed and dangerous. The suspect is identified as 27-year old Jalen Cobb of Carbondale. Anyone with information is asked to call Carbondale Police.
