Terri Bryant Wins Second Term in Illinois House

Incumbent Terri Bryant won re-election for the 115th district and will be joined by a few others that beat incumbent Democrats.

Representative Terri Bryant won her second term in the Illinois house.

She beat challenger Marsha Griffin form Jonesboro in a close race.

Bryant is already focused on a couple of things to get Illinois back on track.

“Two issues I think going forward are going to be at the top of everyone’s mind and that’s going to be a balanced budget and then its going to be getting a new school formula so if we can get those to things in this next session I think that will turn Illinois around.”

Bryant started to Springfield heading in a new direction after the precincts closed and a few new republicans started winning seats held by democrats.

“I think the new players cause new numbers to be there and you know in Springfield everything is about the numbers, do you have the numbers to get a bill passed do you have the numbers to override a veto or not override a veto those are important aspects of what were going to have to see going forward.”

Bryant thinks this increase in numbers may help both sides of the isle get along.

"I believe this is going to maybe cause a little bit less vicious rhetoric and bit more compromise.”

And with more compromise Bryant believes things will start to balance out.

“I’m hoping that these the changes that were seeing tonight as far as the numbers go in the legislature are going to mean that were going to look in a more positive way towards living within our means and paying our bills and paying them on time.”
