Sunday Update: 1,734 New Illinois COVID-19 Cases (May 17)

More than 1,700 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Illinois on Sunday, bringing the state's total to 94,191 cases of the novel coronavirus.

Health leaders also reported another 51 deaths associated with COVID-19, pushing the death toll to 4,177.

LOCAL CASE UPDATES (3:00pm)

Effingham County Health Department:

  • No new cases reported, but one patient who had recovered has relapsed and tested positive again.
  • Six overall positive cases of COVID-19, with three recoveries and one death.
  • 339 tests have been administered.

Egyptian Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases stands at 10, with 9 recoveries.
  • 678 tests have been administered in the three-county service area.

Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 53, with 36 recoveries and one death in Williamson County, 11 cases with eight recoveries in Franklin County.

Jackson County Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Jackson County's total positive test count is 184, with 128 recoveries and ten deaths.

Jefferson County Public Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall there have been 102 positive cases of COVID-19, with 82 recoveries and 14 deaths.

Marion County Health Department

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, there have been 48 positive cases of COVID-19, with 35 recoveries.

Perry County Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, 38 positive cases of COVID-19, with 18 recoveries.

Randolph County Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • 65 active cases, with 60 isolating at home and five hospitalized¬†
  • Overall, 243 positive cases of COVID-19, with 175 recoveries and three deaths.
  • 1,297 tests have been administered.

Richland County Public Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, three positive cases of COVID-19, with three recoveries.
  • 661 tests have been administered.

Southern Seven Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, Southern Seven reports 172 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 51 recoveries and four deaths.
  • 1,667 tests have been administered in the seven county service area.
