The new director of athletics at John A. Logan College is a familiar name to area residents, especially basketball fans.
Greg Starrick will take over the Volunteers' athletic department on Thursday.
Starrick has been the analyst on SIU men's basketball radio broadcasts for decades after a standout career with the Salukis in the early 1970's, which led him to be named to the Salukis' All-Century team.
Starrick also had a legendary basketball career at Marion High School, where he was a two-time all-state performer.
