St. Louis TV Station Helps Perryville, MO Tornado Victims

Tornado victims in Perry County Missouri are getting some help from an unexpected source.

Tuesday night, a St. Louis television station (KSDK) conducted a phone-a-thon with representatives of the United Way of Southeast Missouri. The event raised 18-thousand dollars to help in the recovery effort.
The United Way's Elizabeth Shelton says the surprising part is that the TV station reached out to them because the station's viewers had been seeking ways to assist the tornado victims.

Shelton says donations for the Perryville Tornado Needs Fund now total more than 40-thousand dollars.

Donations of supplies have been coming in at such a rapid rate, the Perry County Emergency Management Agency says it now only wants monetary donations because there is no more space for any additional supplies at the moment.

To donate, visit unitedwayofsemo.org.

The EF-4 tornado killed one in the Perryville area and destroyed or damaged dozens of homes and other structures.
