A Randolph County woman is headed to prison for her role in a large-scale methamphetamine ring.

The U.S. attorney's office says 49-year-old Starlet Howie of Sparta has been sentenced to 16 years in federal prison.
Howie previously pleaded guilty to a one-count indictment charging her and nine others with conspiracy to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine. The offense occurred between 2015 and 2017 in Perry, Randolph, Monroe, and St. Clair Counties.

At sentencing, the district court found that Howie was responsible for the distribution of almost 23 kilograms of ice. She also received an enhanced sentence for obstructing justice during the investigation.

Howie was the tenth and final co-defendant sentenced in this case.
