More southern Illinois residents have tested positive for COVID-19, as coronavirus continues to spread. The Jackson County Health Department says two new cases were acquired locally. One is a female in her 40s, who is isolated at home and doing well; the other is a female in her 60s who is isolated in a long-term care facility in fair condition

To date, there have been 12 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Jackson County, including one death.

Meanwhile Jefferson, Massac, and Williamson Counties also recorded new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend.

The Jefferson County Health Department says their two new cases include a woman in her 20s who is isolating at home and doing well, and a man in his 60s, who is in the hospital.

In Massac County, a man in his 60s is also isolating at home.

And in Williamson County, two new cases were identified - a woman in her 20s who is recovering at home, and woman in her 30s who is also isolated and recovering at home.

Health experts across the region expect increases in COVID cases this week, as pending test results come back. They continue to recommend social distancing, staying at home when you can, and wearing a mask if you do have to go out.
