SIU's new trustees began their two-day meeting Wednesday by sending a strong message of solidarity within the system.
Trustee Ed Hightower - who has served on the Board before - reiterated the system is "stronger together," and says he intends to support all of the campuses.
Five new trustees were seated at their meeting in Springfield. Three of them have served previously.
During Wednesay's working session, trustees got an update on the funding allocation study that's been in the works for several months, along with the status of the search for a new President.
The allocation study's authors say they need more information to provide a workable formula, and Trustees and administrators say they're ready to get that done.
Meanwhile a new president may take a bit longer than planned. As the Board works on a more focused strategic plan, they're pushing the timeline back on the search. Board Chair Phil Gilbert says they hope to have someone in place by the end of December.
