SIU to Host Session on Safe Summer Training for Young Athletes

prevention

Area high school coaches and trainers will come together this week to learn more about how to properly hydrate their student-athletes.

The St. Louis District Dairy Council and SIU Strength and Conditioning director Clete McLeod will demonstrate a Saluki's athletic training session, provide a tour of Saluki Stadium and its training facility and answer questions about how to properly refuel young athletes.

The Dairy Council's Kelly Maher says this is an issue many high schools need more education on. The St. Louis District Dairy Council says chocolate milk is an effective after practice refueling drink that more high school athletes are using.

The refueling conference is Thursday.
