Turning around SIU-Carbondale's declining enrollment is now in the hands of a woman who helped boost the numbers at another Midwest university.
SIU-C Monday announced the hiring of Jennifer DeHaemers as associate chancellor for enrollment management. She is the former associate vice chancellor for student affairs and enrollment management at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
As associate vice chancellor at UMKC from 2011 to 2017, DeHaemers oversaw university-wide enrollment planning and the development of a strategic enrollment plan. During that time, the university's enrollment grew from 15,492 in fall 2011 to 16,383 in fall 2017.
The position of associate chancellor for enrollment management at SIU-C has been vacant since 2014 and has not been filled on a full-time basis since 2011.
DeHaemers will start in Carbondale on May 14th.
