SIU Ag Day Brings Researchers and Farmers Together

On Wednesday, June 26th, 2019 farmers, scientists and agricultural partners from all across Illinois met for a field day to showcase the latest agricultural research going on at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.

Karen Midden is the interim dean, of the College of Agriculture at SIU-C and she says, "SIUC researchers and Illinois farmers proudly work hand-in-hand to implement and enhance the State's conservation efforts.

In this feature, WSIU speaks with Don Guinnup, who farms in Clark County.

We will also visit with SIU-C Professor, Dr. Jon Schoonover and Lauren Lurkins, the Director of Natural and Environmental Resources with the Illinois Farm Bureau.

We will also hear from a farmer in the Quad-Cities area, Jeff Kurwan, who is the Chairman of the Illinois Nutrient Research and Educational Council.

The Field day was sponsored by the SIU-C College of Agricultural Sciences, the Illinois Nutrient Research and Educational Council and the Illinois Farm Bureau.
