SIU Director of Athletics Liz Jarnigan has been named to a committee to assist the U.S. Olympic Committee and the national governing bodies in developing NCAA student-athletes.
The committee will facilitate communication and understanding between the NCAA, the United States Olympic Committee and the national governing bodies. Jarnigan's term on the NCAA Olympic Sports Liaison Committee will run through August, 2023.
"It's a privilege to serve on this committee and I look forward to the opportunity to advance the priorities of our NCAA member institutions and to promote the well-being of its student-athletes," Jarnigan said. "I am passionate about enhancing the student-athlete experience and the educational value of intercollegiate athletics."
Jarnigan was promoted to director of athletics at SIU on September 16th after serving for one year as the department's Senior Woman Administrator and Executive Senior Associate AD under Jerry Kill.
