SIH Cuts Ribbon on Hybrid Medical Clinic

Southern Illinois Healthcare cut the ribbon Thursday on a unique facility.

SIH's senior vice president Philip Schaefer heads up the organization's medical group. He says the new Urgent Care and Work Care Clinic is a hybrid concept new to the region.
"We have taken our existing occupational medicine operation and created a site in Marion for that. At the same time, in the same building, we have an urgent care for walk-in care for people with non-serious medical issues or seeking routine care."

He says clinics like this are the new trend.

"We know, especially with younger patients, what they're looking for is quick access to care that's convenient. They don't have to take time off from work if they want to be seen and get good care. I think this is a concept that's going to continue to grow here as it has in other markets."

The new clinic is located in front of Wal-Mart in Marion.

It will be open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5.
