Vice President Administrator Al Taylor volunteered to be a patient for a live drill Friday morning to give his team some practice.

Until now, trauma patients flown 40 minutes away to Evansville or St. Louis.

Taylor says with trauma patients the first hour is the most critical.

“The more you keep somebody treated within that hour of care the more likely they will be able to survive.”

Trauma surgeon Dr Eduardo Smith-Singares (Sin-Gar-As) says drills like this helps everyone involved provide better care to patients.

“They stress the system and they show us what our weak points and vulnerabilities are.”
