A Carbondale shooting victim has passed away from his injuries more than two months after the incident.

Carbondale Police say 28-year-old David Stockstill, who had listed residences in both Carbondale and Mound City, died April 6th while being treated at a St. Louis area hospital.
Stockstill was shot earlier this year. Carbondale Police were called to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale on February 1st after a report of a gunshot victim. At that time, officers and detectives were unable to determine from Stockstill and witnesses where the shooting took place.

Despite staying in contact with Stockstill, detectives were not able to determine why he was shot and the exact location of the incident before his death.

Since this remains an open investigation, the City of Carbondale is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact Carbondale Police or the Crime Stoppers line at (618) 549-COPS.
