Illinois' senior Senator Dick Durbin says he supports President Biden's ambitious efforts to control the spread of COVID-19, including the goal of administering 100 million doses of the vaccine in 100 days. Durbin also supports the President's order requiring masks be worn in all federal buildings.
"For those who are traveling, I'd just tell 'em, if they're not used to it, get used to it. We are going to break the back of this pandemic by everyone cooperating, as much as possible."
Durbin says other branches of Government are making plans to help with vaccine distribution.
"My friends in the National Guard, who came out here, told me that they were getting prepared to be part of the effort to vaccinate the people in our state."
Durbin says the Senate will be busy approving President Biden's Cabinet nominees, including Judge Merrick Garland for Attorney General. Garland was born and raised in Chicago and has deep ties to Illinois.
