State Representative Dave Severin of Benton filed a House Resolution honoring the man who started a much loved holiday tradition in southern Illinois.
Severin says the resolution honored Tim Murphy of West Frankfort, well known for creating Candy Cane Lane where five blocks of homes are transformed into a holiday wonderland.
"Not only was it known throughout West Frankfort, southern Illinois, the 4-state area, he actually in 2018 was on The Great Christmas Light Fight (TV show). Candy Cane Lane was featured. So, it was nationally recognized."
Murphy was a retired art teacher and volleyball coach at West Frankfort High School.
He died on December 23 from COVID-19.
