Despite a sparse number of contested races in southern Illinois, voters turned out in large numbers - especially for a mid-term election.
Turnout exceeded 50% in Clinton, Effingham, Gallatin, Hamilton, Johnson, Perry, Randolph, Saline, and White counties. Turnout even hit 60% in Washington County.
Franklin, Williamson, and Union counties all had voter turnout at or above 45%.
Jackson County reported just under 36% of registered voters cast ballots.
