The baseball cap is a recognized piece of a ballplayer's uniform.  It's also way for fans to show allegiance to their favorite teams.Former St. Louis Cardinal Harry "The Hat" Walker had a certain disdain for his ball cap.   In this edition of Reading Baseball, Pete Peterson tells the story of how he didn't enjoy wearing his baseball cap either.

Reading Baseball is a series of original essays and commentaries by Richard "Pete" Peterson, author of Pops: The Willie Stargell Story and Growing Up With Clemente.
