A recent poll shows Bruce Rauner with a double-digit lead in the republican primary race for governor.
The current Chicago Tribune-WGN TV poll shows voter support for the Chicago businessman at 40-percent. That's twice the amount of the next nearest republican challenger, Bill Brady. Rauner is out-spending his primary opponents on TV ads in Chicago and across the state. Paul Simon Public Policy Institute Director David Yepsen says money will likely be the determining factor in the GOP primary. Yepsen says, so far, Rauner's strategy is working. The Tribune poll shows Bill Brady with 20-percent, Dan Rutherford at 13-percent and Kirk Dillard at 11-percent. Fifteen percent were "undecided."
State Election records show that Rauner has raised more than 10-million dollars in campaign donations. Rauner has personally contributed to his campaign about a third of that amount.
