Governor Pat Quinn wants voters to weigh in on whether Illinois' comptroller and treasurer offices should merge.
He says that's what the late Judy Baar Topinka - who served in both offices - wanted.
"The first time I talked to Judy when she took the oath of office as comptroller, she said, 'I really want to get that amendment adopted. That's really what I'm focused on.'"
The offices of treasurer and comptroller are sometimes seen as political stepping stones to seeking higher office.
