Governor Pat Quinn is announcing more than $11.5 million in disaster relief for communities hit hard by last November's tornadoes.
The money will be doled out to affected towns such as Brookport. Governor Quinn says this should help local governments recoup some of their extensive recovery and cleanup costs.
Governor Quinn is also signing a few new laws related to disaster recovery. One creates the Illinois Gives initiative that lets current and retired state employees donate a part of their paycheck to the American Red Cross.
The state funding announced Monday includes $1.8 million for Brookport and a little over $31,000 for Massac County.
