State Senator Dale Fowler is sponsoring a bill to help businesses devastated by the COVID-19 Pandemic's economic fallout.
Senator Fowler says in crafting Senate Bill 1615, he's worked closely with the Illinois Chamber of Commerce to make sure the money was evenly split between child care providers, and other businesses.
"Sort of their recommendation initially 25 percent of future covid relief funds coming into the state of Illinois would go to the BIG program, so we adjusted that to 11 percent to to obviously leave room for our childcare providers as well."
He adds of the original 40-thousand applications for the original round of funding, through the Business Interuption Grant, 64 percent went to Cook and collar counties, and while he is pleased those areas received help, he wants businesses in southern Illinois to recover as well.
