A trip to prison awaits a man who pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing a weapon as a felon.
The Jackson County State's Attorney says 47-year-old Serle Thomas received a two-year prison sentence.

In November 2016, Carbondale Police officers observed what turned out to be a domestic dispute between two drivers at the corner of East Walnut and South Logan Streets.

Officers discovered Thomas had a suspended driver's license, so he was arrested and his vehicle towed.

A vehicle inventory found over 100 grams of cannabis and a loaded semi-automatic pistol in Thomas' vehicle. As part of the plea agreement, the cannabis charge was dismissed.
