Over a thousand brand new toys and gifts will be distributed to abused, abandoned and neglected children in southern Illinois.
The Poshard Foundation welcomed social service agencies to John A. Logan College Wednesday as part of its annual toy giveaway.

Ashley Kramer with the DCFS office in Marion says this makes the Christmas season a little brighter for kids in need.

"We look forward to it at DCFS. It makes our job really fun when we get to give the gifts. They can think they're from Santa."

Volunteers help social service agency representatives find gifts for abandoned, abused and neglected children.

The foundation's Jo Poshard says they hope to provide gifts for over 400 children. She says this is just the tip of the iceberg.

"But, we feel it's important to do what we can do to help these children feel that someone cares about them, that they have a present to open, that they belong."

Poshard says Richard Clark, Tri-State Business Equipment in Harrisburg, Ameren Illinois and individuals donated the gifts.
