The Poshard Foundation has awarded 68-thousand dollars in grants to help abused, abandoned or neglected children.
Foundation Co-founder Jo Poshard announced the awards to 29 social service agencies on Monday as part of National Child Abuse Prevention Month. One of the recipients is The Night's Shield in West Frankfort. Spokesperson Judy Davis says the funding helps them to provide at risk kids with some normalcy. Other agencies receiving Poshard Foundation funding include the Anna Bixby Women's Center in Harrisburg, Baptist Children's home in Carmi, the Amy Center in Mt. Vernon and the Women's Center in Carbondale.
The foundation has raised more than $800,000 over the last 12-years to support care for abused and neglected children.
