Police Shooting in St. Louis Suburb

police

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon says the fatal shooting of a suspect in the St. Louis suburb of Berkeley is another reminder of the dangers police officers face.

A Berkeley officer shot and killed an 18-year-old suspect late Tuesday. Police released surveillance video that they say shows the suspect pointing a gun at the officer.  But hundreds protested the shooting, comparing it to the Michael Brown case in nearby Ferguson as another situation where a white officer killed a black suspect.

The protest was violent, with bricks and explosives thrown toward officers. A nearby convenience store was damaged. Four people were arrested and two officers were treated for injuries.
