Police ID Car vs. Pedestrian Victims

Police Car and Lights

Authorities have identified the two 18-year-old victims in a fatal crash along Route 13 in Carbondale Saturday night.
Carbondale Police say they were Gavin Flynn, a recent graduate from Carbondale Community High School and Ryan Reed, who was a senior at CCHS.

Police say the two were walking along the highway near Reed Station Road, and walked into the roadway. That's when authorities say a 2015 Audi sedan hit them.

Flynn died at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Reed was taken to a St. Louis hospital, where he died Sunday morning.

The driver of the car, a 48-year old man, was not injured. No tickets have been issued, but police say they are still investigating the crash.
