O'Guinn Response to Termination

Former Carbondale Police Chief Jody O'Guinn is responding to his termination - saying he doesn't know why he was fired.
Published reports say O'Guinn says he received good performance evaluations from previous City Managers, and never was evaluated by current City Manager Kevin Baity - who fired him on Monday.
O'Guinn goes on to say communication between his office and the City Manager has been sporadic, and calls Baity's press announcement on Monday confusing.

In the letter, O'Guinn also spoke to the families of Molly Young and Pravin Varughese. The former Chief says he never intentionally withheld information or covered anything up in either case.

Baity says O'Guinn's termination is a personnel matter, and has nothing to do with the high-profile cases that have plagued the CPD over the past several years.
