NWS Confirms 12 Tornadoes in Region Last Weekend

The National Weather Service in Paducah has completed damage surveys from storms this past weekend.

They found 12 tornadoes occurred around the region, two in southeast Missouri, one in southern Illinois, and nine in western Kentucky.
The one in southern Illinois occurred at Ware in Union County around 2 a.m. Sunday. Large tree branches were snapped. A large open storage shed was overturned and destroyed. Numerous trees were snapped and uprooted. Roofs were blown off several structures.

The two in southeast Missouri included one in Jackson shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday. The tornado touched down just south of Highway 61, then damaged several businesses where it crossed the highway. One business was destroyed. Interstate 55 was closed for a brief time for debris cleanup. The other occurred in Patton in Bollinger County, a little before 1 a.m. A barn and workshop were damaged. A few trees were uprooted.
