The three new positive tests are a man in his 60's, likely acquired from travel out of state...a woman in her 20's, likely acquired from travel to the Chicago area... and a woman in her 90's, acquired locally.
Currently there are seven laboratory confirmed positives of COVID-19 in Jackson County.

Memorial Hospital of Carbondale announced Wednesday it is caring for a patient with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19.

The test was sent to the Illinois Department of Public Health lab in Carbondale and SIH subsequently learned the test results were positive. SIH is collaborating with Jackson County Health Department.

SIH’s healthcare team took immediate steps to properly isolate and care for the patient. SIH says it continues to take proper and proactive measures to ensure the safety of patients and staff.

Public health officials have begun an investigation of these cases, speaking with individuals who they mayhave encountered before this diagnosis.

SIH has established a 24-hour COVID-19 hotline at 1-844-988-7800.
