A Murphysboro man has been sentenced on a weapons charge.

The Jackson County State's Attorney says 30-year-old Richard Bone received a one-year prison sentence for Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapons.
The evidence showed last February, officers from the Murphysboro Police Department went to the 800 block of North 14th Street after receiving a report of a man with a gun. They arrived and located a man identified as Bone and as officers attempted to make contact, Bone walked away, reaching toward his waistband. While officers were securing Bone, they found a loaded.40 caliber semi-automatic handgunin the waistband of his pants. Officers also found a baggy containing a small amount of methamphetamine in Bone’s front pocket.

Bone did not possess a Firearm Owner’s Identification card and was not eligible to have one.
