Murphysboro Man Convicted of Murder

A Murphysboro man has been convicted of First Degree Murder and related charges.

The Jackson County State's Attorney says 29-year-old Cortez Turner was also found guilty of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and two counts of Perjury.
The conviction is in connection with a shooting incident, which resulted in the death of Detrick Rogers in Murphysboro during the early morning hours of October 24, 2016.

Turner faces 20 to 60 years in prison.
