Murphysboro City Council Approves Fund for Local Businesses

The Murphysboro City Council has approved the adoption of the Murphysboro Economic Relief COVID-19 Event program.

On his Facebook page, Mayor Will Stephens said this City funded program re-purposes $38,000 in grant funding that had previously been earmarked for a business revolving loan fund.
It makes funds available for reimbursement of one verifiable general operating expense of rent, lease or mortgage payment, property and casualty insurance premiums or a utility payment up to a ceiling of $1,000.

Stephens says applications will be accepted from essential and non-essential small businesses, with less than 10 employees including the business owners, within the corporate limits of Murphysboro.

The applications should be ready on Monday morning. They can be downloaded from the City of Murphysboro website or picked up from the Daum Administration building drive-up window.
