Local Community Cinema Film Screening for Sat, Oct 26 Canceled

Carbondale, Ill. -- The Community Cinema screening of the Independent Lens film The State of Arizona, originally scheduled for this Saturday, October 26 at 2:30pm at the Carbondale Public Library, has been canceled.

The SIU College of Mass Communication & Media Arts (MCMA) and WSIU Public Broadcasting were contacted by the Independent Television Service, distributor of the Independent Lens series, on Tuesday, October 22 and told that the screening must be canceled because the filmmakers have not yet completed their liability insurance agreement.

ITVS, MCMA, and WSIU apologize for any inconvenience the cancellation of this Saturday's film screening may cause.

MCMA, WSIU, and the Carbondale Public Library will try to reschedule the screening in November or December. Please watch for a public announcement if and when details are finalized.

The next scheduled Community Cinema event will take place on Saturday, February 22, 2014 with a screening of the film Las Marthas.

For more information about local Community Cinema screenings, contact Deborah Tudor, Associate Dean of the SIU College of Mass Communications and Media Arts, at (618) 453-4308 or dtudor@siu.edu. Visit our local Community Cinema website at http://www.wsiu.org/communitycinema.

Community Cinema is a service of Independent Television Services (ITVS) and is funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
