WSIU, SIU Summer Children's Film Series Continues

Next Event is Wednesday, July 10 at Metropolis Public Library

Carbondale, Ill. -- Reporters, photographers, and camera crews are invited to cover free screenings of award-winning Prix Jeunesse International children's films at regional libraries this summer. The films are being shown as part of the summer library reading program, “Have Book, Will Travel”. The SIU College of Mass Communication and Media Arts, WSIU Public Broadcasting, the SIU Global Media Research Center, and the SIU Center for International Education are presenting the films in conjunction with regional libraries.

The next film screening will be held this Wednesday, July 10 from 5:30-6:30pm at the Metropolis Public Library, 317 Metropolis Street in Metropolis, Illinois, and is aimed at children ages 7-11+. Films to be featured are Once I Dreamt from Once TV, Mexico and My Dream Bike from TRT Istanbul, Turkey.

Dafna Lemish, Interim Dean of the SIU College of Mass Communication & Media Arts, and SIU international student Erga Lemish, both from Israel, will meet and interact with children and parents at the screening. Special book titles representing countries featured in the films also will be available.
