Local Music Fundraiser Seeks Donated Record Albums

 Two Weeks Left to Donate to 5th Annual SIRIS Classic Vinyl & Media Sale

Carbondale, Ill. – Wanted… your rock, jazz, blues, and country record albums!

WSIU Public Radioand the Southern Illinois Radio Information Service (SIRIS), are seeking old record albums – especially in the rock, jazz, blues, and country genres – along with CDs, DVDs, eight-track tapes, cassettes, VHS tapes, electronic games, and working stereo equipment for the 5th Annual SIRIS Classic Vinyl & Media Sale. This annual fundraiser supports the Southern Illinois Radio Information Service (SIRIS), a service of WSIU Public Radio and SIU Carbondale.

Presented by WSIU and SIRIS in partnership with the University Mall in Carbondale, this year's sale will be held across from the Food Court at the University Mall on Saturday, September 8 from 10am to 9pm andSunday, September 9 fromnoon to 6pm.

All music and equipment donations must be in good condition and will be accepted until Friday, August 24 at the following locations:

• University Mall Guest Services, 1237 East Main, Carbondale

• SIU Credit Union, 1217 West Main & 395 North Giant City Road, Carbondale

• SIU Credit Union, 300 S. Pershing, Energy

• SIU Credit Union, 2809 Outer Drive, Marion

• Holz Tool Supply, 819 Broadway, Mt. Vernon

• Du Quoin Public Library, 28 S. Washington, Du Quoin

• Wright Do-It Center, 208 South Williams, Murphysboro

Sale proceeds will benefit SIRIS, a radio information service for individuals who are blind or whose physical condition prevents them from reading print materials. SIRIS is broadcast on a sideband channel of WSIU Radio and includes regional and national newspapers and magazines. Receivers are provided to qualified users at no cost. SIRIS is supported in part by the United Way, the Illinois State Library, and donations.
