As COVID-19 cases increase, some local businesses have had to shut down due to exposures to the coronavirus.
Rainbow’s End, Quattro’s and Pinch Penny Liquors are three of the local businesses that have temporarily shut their doors as a precaution.
Jackson County Health Department Administrator Bart Hagston said his department helps businesses determine if shut downs are necessary.
“Just because you have one case of COVID in a facility does not mean that it’s an automatic shut down. Every business and organization is going to have positive individuals, whether it’s an employee, a customer or a client, you’re going to have them come through your facility,” he said.
Hagston said the department is not naming facilities as long as they are able to do thorough job of contact tracing but are encouraging businesses owners to be transparent with the community.
If the department is unable to do adequate contact tracing, Hagston said the department would release the name.
