Because of COVID-19 restrictions on public gatherings, many non-profits who depend on large public fundraisers, have seen their donations drop. Like many other organizations, For Kids' Sake is taking its annual fundraising event online.
Ryan Edwards, Assistant Director of the Carbondale non-profit, says the annual SuperHero 5K will allow runners and walkers to log in and post their results.
"Basically you run the 5K on your own and kind of time it, either on your phone or a stop watch. And then you'll use your bib number that you get from registering, to log your time, and you'll be able to see your results compared to everyone."
This year's virtual 5K runs from September 26th through October 4th and participants can run or walk anywhere they would like.
