Two people suspected in a Kentucky homicide case have been arrested in Jefferson County, Illinois.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a reported shoplifter in Ina early Saturday morning. State Police and Mt. Vernon police also responded.

Authorities stopped the suspected vehicle a short time later, and arrested Joseph Cunningham and Kristy Keener. Police say they found guns and evidence of other crimes in the car.

Detectives say Cunningham and Keener are linked to a homicide in Marshall County, Kentucky, and an arson in McCracken County. They were taken to the Jefferson County Justice Center – and face retail theft, possession of a stolen firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of a stolen vehicle charges.

Police say more charges could follow as Kentucky authorities continue their investigations.
