The Island President

This Saturday, April 27th, WSIU and the Carbondale Public Library invite you to this month's Community Cinema film, The Island President

The film tells the story of the effects of global warming on the ever-rising sea levels for the island country of Maldives, in the South Pacific. The 2011 documentary chronicles the efforts of the former President of Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed, to tackle climate change.

The film will be shown at 2:30 in the Community Room at the Carbondale Public library.  The facilitators for the film are Jerry Bush, Business and Advertising Director for the Daily Egyptian, and Jack Piatt, Graduate Student in Professional Media & Media Management at SIU.  They will share photographs and information about their research on the effects of climate change on the health of Pacific Islanders in the country of Palau.
