Illinois State Police Place Troopers in Semis to Help Reduce Crashes on I-57

Illinois State Police are stepping up efforts to make Interstate 57 as safe as possible.

The Trooper in a Truck detail is now on out on I-57.
This means a State Police trooper is riding in a tractor-trailer up and down the interstate observing poor decisions made by drivers near commercial motor vehicles.

Troopers say numerous crashes claim lives, cause injury, destroy property, and cause lengthy and unnecessary traffic backups. They say it takes many resources to deal with a commercial motor vehicles crash.

By actively seeking out violations near semis and with educational efforts, State Police hope to save lives by reducing the number of crashes.
