Four park projects in the southern half Illinois are receiving state grants.
The City of Vienna is receiving a grant worth 360-thousand dollars; the Village of Sandoval in Marion County is receiving over 344-thousand; the Village of Dieterich in Effingham County is slated to get more than 306-thousand and the City of Metropolis will use nearly 232-thousand dollars for pool improvements.
Overall, IDNR is awarding nearly 29-million dollars to help fund 89 park projects across the state.
The funds come from the state's Open Space Land Acquisition and Development program, which receives dedicated funding from a percentage of the state's Real Estate Transfer Tax.
